working meeting

On September 19, 2025, within the framework of the ongoing project "Forest Friend" – A Platform to catalyze reforestation and forest conservation activities through the involvement of the private sector and the public (Phase 2)", the event was held for presentation of the results conducted by the project and the Project Proposal to the experts, government officials and other stakeholders.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture (representatives of the Climate Change, Land Degradation, Forestry Department and the National Forestry Agency), representatives of banks and the business sector, donors (representatives of the Asian Development Bank and the United Nations Development Program), and independent experts.

Three presentations were made by the project experts:

​

• A Brief Overview of Current Activities on Carbon Crediting and Credit Offsetting at the International and National Levels,

• Carbon Offsetting Schemes: Experience of Successful Countries and a National Approach for Georgia,

• Cost-benefit analysis of 1,255 ha of forest restoration and conservation in the Alazani floodplain forests.

After each presentation, there were questions and discussions.
